Fire Prevention Week

It's "Fire Prevention Week," ladies and what better way to illustrate the importance of what this week represents (and to get your attention) than with our very own Captain Sidney (anyway I can fit Sid into a post is ALWAYS A GOOD THING!)!!!

Do I always pay attention to things like this??? NO, of course not!! But the Today Show had gorgeous NY firefighters on this morning to talk about it which got me to thinking about a post with them and the more I thought about it (it got the "creative juices" flowing), I remembered Sid being presented with a fire helmet a few years back and figured it would be just as appropriate to feature him for this special week too!!!

What do you think he wanted to be if he wasn't playing hockey???? A firefighter, of course (doesn't that just suit Sid?!)!!!!

CLICK HERE to see him receive the helmet from the Pittsburgh fire station in Southpointe.

[Dear Lord, please forgive me for all the thoughts that these pictures bring to mind that have to do with Mr. Crosby showing up at my door to put out a fire!!!]

And don't thank me, I'm just passing along the very important information that I, myself, was reminded of this morning!!

On a serious note (since this really is an important matter), while we're talking about it, PLEASE REMEMBER TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
  • make sure to have working smoke alarms in various locations throughout your house
  • change the batteries in your alarms twice a year (along with daylight savings times)
  • check the alarms every month
THERE -- I feel much better now that you all know that (I hope you do too!)!!!

Eastern Conference Eye Candy: Dan Girardi (New York Rangers)

I've been coming up with inspiration for these posts when I'm not even looking for it, but I'll take it where / when I can get it!!

I was looking for pics for my other blog's post and I came across a few "pretty" Rangers that I thought would make great "eye candy" posts and Dan Girardi is one of them.

HOCKEY FACTOR:
Girardi is another typical defenseman (6'2, 215 pounds) - I really have to make a point to look at forwards more - I've just been drawn to defensemen these past few weeks, I guess!

He was signed by the Rangers in 2006 as a free agent and played with their AHL affiliate (Hartford Wof Pack) as a top defensive prospect until he was called up playing his first game on January 27, 2007. The Rangers signed him to a two-year extension last year for $3.1 million. Prior to his professional career, Girardi played junior hockey for the London Knights on which he won the 2005 OHL Championship and Memorial Cup.

HOTNESS FACTOR:
Many, many things make Dan hot -- take notice of that jaw line (very strong and manly!) and those crystal blue pools he has for eyes - WOW! Good Lord, is there a prerequisite to be good-looking / have model looks to play hockey for the NHL?!!

He was married in the summer of 2008, so he doesn't shy away from the committment thing.

Some FUN FACTS about Dan:

  • Mark Messier was his hockey idol growing up
  • his most memorial hockey moments are his first NHL game against Philadelphia and winning the Memorial Cup
  • plays golf in his spare time
  • he'd be a baseball player if he wasn't playing hockey
  • enjoys listening to U2
  • Family Guy is his favorite television show

OK - that hockey stick he's holding looks awfully big

PenPic of the Week

I came across this picture after the home-opener and knew instantly that it would be this week's picture - I LOVE IT (those of you who have followed the blog awhile know that I really enjoy "artsy" pics and that's what this is!)!!!

Cabbie's Journey to the Cup - Special SC Champs Edition (Re-Post)

Just in case anyone else has been trying to find this video, I'm posting a link to the previous post I included it in:

REASON #41
He's Unaware of Just How Attractive He Is

You know what I'm talking about - those genuinely beautiful people who really aren't aware of how attractive they are (which makes them all that more attractive). Well, Sid is one of those people.

Back to that jaw-dropping pic of him and his bare chest featured on the blog this week -- it was a wonder that the pic was "capped" because he was honestly hurrying to get his shirt on before Cabbie caught him. Most guys wouldn't think twice about flaunting themselves around with such a defined physique, but not Sid! So modest. [*swoon*]

Get Ready for Guerin in the Buff!!

The premiere issue of ESPN The Magazine's "Body Issue" is set to hit newsstands October 19th and is something that's been compared to Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue. The magazine approached various male and female pro, amateur, and Olympic athletes about posing "in various stages of undress."

USA Today released a list of those athletes and among them is our very own Bill Guerin (along with Zdeno Chara!)!! This should be interesting!!
