REASON #86
He FINALLY Spoke Out
(not any information, but at least he spoke - AND we know he's still around!)

Yesterday, Twitter (and I'm guessing most of the internet - I just got all of my info from Twitter) heated up again with Sidney Crosby talk.  In fact (I think it's what may have started it to spark up again), Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Dejan Kovacevic posted an article of which JUST THE TITLE stirred the pot for some (and really got things heated) - "Kovacevic: Crosby's silence indefensible"

The majority of Pens nation was upset / angry about it and didn't agree with Kovacevic's opinion at all, BUT (IMO) IT DID make the Penguins organization take notice and must've urged Crosby to finally speak because the article that the Penguins webpage posted later yesterday evening in response, "Crosby Visits Leading Specialists," INCLUDED A QUOTE from none other than Crosby himself!
“I appreciate all the support I’ve received from my family, friends, teammates and fans and from the entire Penguins organization,” Crosby said. “I know they only want the best for my health, and for me to be fully ready when I return to game action.”
But there IS a positive twist to Sid's current 'story' which "The Globe and Mail" published around the same time the Penguins webpage article was posted.  CLICK HERE if you want some "feel good" news about Crosby (and HERE if you want to read the post I wrote last night on it)!!

Ok I am going to play devils advocate here. I thought that column was spot on, a LOT of all this rumour mongering could have stopped earlier if Sid and the Pens had just spoken up and been honest about what was happening. It's not like they don't know that concussions can take a long time to come good and I can't help feeling that other interests had been put first before they spoke up about his current situation.

Personally I don't think Sid will be ready for the start of the season and I'm not at all upset about that. He should put his health first and foremost because if you don't have that then you have nothing. All the money in the world can't restore your brain if it's permanently damaged.

I wasn't upset by the article either (I might've been a little surprised, mostly). I don't think he'll be ready for the start of the season either but he'll be IN Pittsburgh and with the team. Since his concussion all I've thought of was how, regardless of whether or not he comes back, this will change him / hockey, but I'm glad they're not being hasty about it!

My thoughts exactly Steph! From what I've seen of other players situations you're never the same after a concussion and I think too many have gone back to playing too soon after one.

If Sid doesn't play this season it won't be all doom and gloom for the Pens, Geno is raring to go,I think Neal will light them up and judging by that vid of Tanger's workout he will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

LETS GO PENS!!!!!
