INTRODUCING

Just a short introduction to our newest feature here at HftL!!

What would the NHL be without the "bad boys?" You know, the players "also known as" the enforcers, pests, agitators, goons; sometimes even a little downright "dirty" (OK - maybe some are alot dirty; still - get your mind out of the gutter!). So Kena and I decided to dedicate an entire weekly post to them (you know you LOVE 'EM just as much as we do!)!!!

Kena is up first with Dustin Brown from the LA Kings (that means it's my turn next week! Can you guess who my first "bad boy" will be?)!!

ENJOY, ladies!

BAD BOY of Winter - Dustin Brown (LA Kings)

In true “bad boy” fashion, he has a mellow personality. [Price Is Right VIDEO] [and THIS VIDEO & THIS VIDEO]. He takes the teasing of his cohorts, with a cute little grin and a blush and still manages to be a badass on the ice.

Start watching this one at 24 seconds in:

If you're a Pens fan, you'll love him forever after seeing that.

Known for his crushing hits:

(and particularly [by the author] for duking it out with Brenden Morrow [VIDEO] or [Video]).

He's a “bad boy” who's sure to find a “soft spot” in your heart.
This week's reason was inspired by a post that Kena wrote for her blog.

Sidney is a franchise player that you can build your team around!
Kena's post pretty much sums this one up!! It's a great post that is worth a read!!

Western Conference Hotties "Month of Stars" - Week 1: Brad Richards (Dallas Stars)

Here we have one of those guys who is universally considered hot by most of the population (male & female because I've seen lots of guys with “man crushes” on him). However, I can take him or leave him as far as his looks are concerned [that's not surprising, Kena - he's not blonde!]. Yes I know, many consider that last statement sacrilege, but to me he's just slightly above average in the looks department. [VIDEO] I do have to admit that I've never seen him in person, so maybe that's it [and ladies, I've never claimed to be "normal." (laughs)].

IMPORTANT HOCKEY STUFF: If you're a “real” hockey fan (def: you at least “try” to control your “puckbunny” tendencies which, believe it or not, I do - Really, I do [Stop laughing.]!), [who are you trying to convince, Kena?!] you'll know who he is before I tell you. Most notably, he was the Stanley Cup MVP with the Tampa Bay Lightning (2004). He was acquired by the (my) Dallas Stars at the 07/08 trade deadline. Immediately thereafter, he posted 5 assists in his first game as a Star which made him the FIRST player in NHL history to post 5 assist in his first game with a new team. It also made him only the 3rd player in the history of the franchise to post 5 assists in a game. Since then he's not really looked like a SCF MVP, but I'm willing to give him a little adjustment time. He still hasn't played that many games as a Star. He's been rolling out assists, but unfortunately not scoring goals. BUT those are still some REALLY IMPRESSIVE accomplishments.

THE REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF: The ONE AND ONLY thing You need to know about Brad Richards to count him as HOT is THIS! -> (http://bradrichardsfoundation.com/home); otherwise, we'll go with some of the other really awesome “perks” of being a female hockey fan. Hockey players are TALL, and he's no exception. 6'0” [and change], 192lbs. And a goodly portion of them are PRETTY [VIDEO], including Brad Richards, [This interview VIDEO] with light brown hair, and hazel/brown/green eyes (really, the eyes are awesome). His looks improve dramatically when he's wearing street clothes. Even more so in a suit (and I normally do not go for dress-ups, but he's an exception). Uh, there are the teeth (rabbit) which bother some, but good grief, how can you fault a guy for teeth who's done this [Link Here]. A star scorer who isn't afraid of defending themselves. What more could you want??

As far as his personality you simply couldn't ask for better [Cute Blurb] [and a neat commercial VIDEO]. He's not wild, or slutty at all. He is in fact polite, pleasant and your parents would TOTALLY approve of him if you brought him home for dinner.

I do have to thank my friend, Myra, for really convincing me that he was a total piece, not just eye candy (he is a GENUINELY nice guy), not just pretty. She has done some really detailed research which can be found HERE. It's really worth the read (if she didn't live 2 states away, I would be fearful of my job. [laughs]). And special thanks to her for answering my delirious questions. [It's a really awesome post, Myra - I enjoyed it even though I'm not a Stars fan!]

Crosby Pictures of the Week

This week there's TONS of awesome pictures to choose from after the great game they played on Saturday (with Sid's hat trick and all)!! So - it wasn't much easier to choose this week either and I decided to include all of them (why make it hard for myself?)!!

Malkin Off-Day Interview (12/01/08)

This interview was conducted after yesterday's morning skate at the IceoPlex (in Southpointe). It's only 55 seconds long, but it's an interview and he's still unsure of his English (and apologizing for it) -- what a sweetheart!!

Ladies, Meet Aubri Covol!

THIS, ladies, is the surprise I've been telling you about (and the surprise is being posted today in place of a "Hottie" or "Unsung Hottie" - we'll return to our normal schedule next week)!!
Does the name ring a bell? If not, allow me to remind you with my original post "I'm So Jealous!" But I'm sure you can guess just by looking at the pictures in this post!!

Aubri was among the lucky people who not only got their season tickets delivered to them prior to the start of this season, but got them delivered by none other than our Captain, Sidney Crosby!!

My original post focused on "the hug" (pictured here) and since this picture made me wonder if he smelled good, I made a plea to her:

So Aubri, if you happen to read my blog, please e-mail me to let me know if Sidney smelled good / what he smelled like!!! I would be so grateful!

Well, a few weeks ago (which was about two months after writing this post), I received an e-mail from Aubri explaining who she was and asking that I e-mail her back. She really made my day; it was as close to meeting Sidney Crosby as I've ever come and I was just so excited!! So I took the opportunity to "interview" her via e-mail!

Actually the people that are in the picture with me are very good family friends. My mother is standing right behind me and that is the only relative of mine that is in the picture. Yes we all have season ticket and we all go to a bunch of games.

The question that keeps popping into my head is the same one that had when I first did the blog post --- did he smell good? I can only imagine that he did (if it makes any sense, when he's out and in "street clothes," he always looks like he would smell good!)!!
Yes i must say he did smell good! (haha).

What was it like having all those cameras and media around during your visit (did they stay as long / longer than Sidney to get "the story")?
During the visit, time had seem to fly by for me. I wish he could of stayed longer but I knew he had other things to do. Having all those cameras around was absolutly insane! I felt like a celebrity! Some of the media had left when Sid left but others had stayed to interview all of us that were there at the house.

What happened at school the next day (did you feel like a celebrity, did you acquire any new friends)?
The next day at school was unreal! I felt like a celebrity. Kids that I didnt even know came up to me and was like "Your the girl that met Sidney Crosby!" Other had told me that they saw me on the channel 11 news and so much more. Most of the girls that saw it were freaking out about how I hugged him. They were all saying how jealous they were of me.

Everyone who meets Sidney always says how nice he is, but is there anything you can think of about meeting him that you found interesting (did he talk about something interesting or share something interesting with you guys or maybe you noticed something interesting about him that the rest of us wouldn't know?)?Sidney was such a nice person!! He just seemed like a regular person like you and me.

What did you have him autograph for you?
We had him autograph so many things! We had him autographs a bunch of jerseys, t-shirts, and a few pictures.

Do you own a copy of Sid's DVD, "On the Ice and Beyond" and, if so, how many times have you watched it (or maybe it's on your Christmas list?)?
Trust me, Sid's DVD is on my Christmas list!

What do you plan to go to college for? Any ideas as to where you'll be attending college (have any that you've been seriously considering)?
I hope to be going to college to become a sports broadcaster (I kind of want to be the next Dan Potash). Two colleges that i really want to go to are Penn State or Mercyhurst.

How many years has your family had season tickets?
I am not exactly sure on how long we have been season ticket holders but we are all life time Pittsburgh Penguins fans!!!

I want to take this time to thank Aubri again for her time and cooperation with agreeing to this interview!! I appreciate her sharing her story with us and wish her the best of luck with future endeavors. THANKS A BUNCH, AUBRI!!
