Fire Prevention Week

It's "Fire Prevention Week," ladies and what better way to illustrate the importance of what this week represents (and to get your attention) than with our very own Captain Sidney (anyway I can fit Sid into a post is ALWAYS A GOOD THING!)!!!

Do I always pay attention to things like this??? NO, of course not!! But the Today Show had gorgeous NY firefighters on this morning to talk about it which got me to thinking about a post with them and the more I thought about it (it got the "creative juices" flowing), I remembered Sid being presented with a fire helmet a few years back and figured it would be just as appropriate to feature him for this special week too!!!

What do you think he wanted to be if he wasn't playing hockey???? A firefighter, of course (doesn't that just suit Sid?!)!!!!

CLICK HERE to see him receive the helmet from the Pittsburgh fire station in Southpointe.

[Dear Lord, please forgive me for all the thoughts that these pictures bring to mind that have to do with Mr. Crosby showing up at my door to put out a fire!!!]

And don't thank me, I'm just passing along the very important information that I, myself, was reminded of this morning!!

On a serious note (since this really is an important matter), while we're talking about it, PLEASE REMEMBER TO DO THE FOLLOWING:
  • make sure to have working smoke alarms in various locations throughout your house
  • change the batteries in your alarms twice a year (along with daylight savings times)
  • check the alarms every month
THERE -- I feel much better now that you all know that (I hope you do too!)!!!

; )

Actually, I have to take the batteries out of my smoke alarms when watching a Pens game (or a Stars game, Shhh) It would never stop going off.

[No ladies, fire alarms are VERY VERY important, NEVER take the battery out of your smoke alarms.]

Wow.

We're supposed to learn about PREVENTING fires, but let me tell you: those pictures sure as hell started one!

Nothing's hotter than a man in uniform, whether it be a Penguins uniform or a firefighter jacket and helmet.

I'm not going to be able to make it through the rest of work now, but it's soo worth it.

I don't know if I want Sidney to light my fire or to come put it out.

@mtfree - I'm sure he could do both exceedingly well ;)

Omg - he should have to wear that shirt ALL the time! How freak'n hot is that???
And, I have to confess, I do sometimes take batteries out of one of my smoke detectors (though I am very good about putting them back in) as my (in)ability to cook is just tragic.
