Monday Macho
But before we get to the video, I found a really interesting group on Facebook this weekend and thought I'd share it with all of you:
Couldn't we all have guessed this? I mean, there has to be a logical reason why we're all so attracted to them. The group's description:
In an article published in Playboy, it was noted that hockey players make the best lovers. The article backed this statement by noting that hockey players have a strong and flexible core, leading to superior abdominal thrusts.Enough of that -- here's the video, so enjoy ladies!!

Some Contradiction as to the Date for Crosby
It looks as though alot of reports are surfacing that Sid will have the Cup on his birthday which is appropriate (so I apologize for my posting the information too early and getting the date incorrect).
Metro News Halifax is reporting that sources have told them that Crosby is planning to have the Cup on his 22nd birthday on August 7th, but an official announcement is forthcoming.
“Right now, the date is pretty much secured but it’s not being released,” said Mason, a family friend and a former coach of Crosby’s. “It will be announced possibly by the end of this week or the beginning of next week at the latest.”Currently, I have Crosby's day with the Cup listed as August 19th and I wouldn't have posted it unless I came across that date on the internet (whether the date was actually stated in an article or I put facts from a number of articles together to come to a conclusion that this was the date).
But, I had a reader email me that the date is being reported on YAHOO! Sports as his birthday, August 7th.
I just wanted to make note of this on the blog so you don't think that I'm pulling dates out of thin air -- it appears to be some type of discrepency (and it could be a mistake on my part); however, YAHOO! does not give any sources or reasons as to why they report this is the date (and it does say "is expected to" which would imply this is not definite).
Is it August 7th or August 19th?? I guess we'll have to wait and see unless I get confirmation prior to these dates!!
He's sexy whether he's wearing a tux or "bummy" street clothes
It's back to "simple and superficial" this week talking about one of the MANY facets of Sid's good looks!! And I'll let the pictures do the explaining!! : P

Brooks Orpik at BC with the Stanley Cup (A Fan's Account)
It was awesome! I got there early so I was in good position when they finally let people in (about 15 min late). The organizers did next to nothing. There were no signs or anything of where to go (and it was a BIG building) and there was no clear line so it became a bit of a "rush the door" when they started, but no fights broke out so it went ok. Anyway, Brooks was a total sweetheart. He was taking photos with everyone and signing stuff too. He has a really nice smile and wasn't intimidating at all close up. Which is not to say I'd ever want to face him on the ice, but off the ice he seems just genuinely nice. I even got to shake his hand - it's like a big soff bear paw. :)A BIG THANK YOU goes out to Cathy Z. for sharing her experience and photos!!!
I didn't get a chance to spend much time up close and personal with the Cup, but to even get to touch it seemed so special. I felt like a loser afterwards thought because all of the things I thought of saying went out the window when I had the moment. I was totally tongue tied ... It took over an hour to get there and another hour to get home, but it was totally worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :)

2009 - 2010 Schedules Out LATER TODAY!!!!!
THIS FROM MY TSCSF BLOG:
[UPDATE]
AHA!!! They're on the way -- 2009-10 schedule to be released later today (from NHL.com)!!!
NHL fans should get their calendars ready, because they'll have some important dates to start marking down.According to the "Ice Man" Atlanta Thrashers blog, the NHL schedules (the Thrasher's anyway) have been released and he posted some "highlights" of their schedule which includes 2 dates with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He's reporting that the Penguins will be traveling to Atlanta on Saturday, November 21st as well as closing out the Thrasher's season at the Mellon Arena on Saturday, April 10th.
At approximately 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the League will unveil the entire 2009-10 regular-season schedule.
The announcement coincides with the major event planned for 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Boston's Fenway Park. That event can be watched live on the NHL Network, as well as NHL.com.
Saturday Novemeber 21: The Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins bring their act to Thrasherville…we also close the season at home against the Penguins on April 10.When does the 2009 - 2010 NHL schedules come out and am I making a big deal out of this for nothing??? I'm assuming it's soon or otherwise all these game dates wouldn't be floating around the internet.

Crosby Picture of the Week
But low and behold, I found one that I hadn't noticed before nor have I seen around alot and I'm featuring it this week.
And it's only appropriate that we include dad in on this (since mom was included last week)!! This picture is just darling only because it feels so "in the moment" and Troy genuinely seems harmless (he normally scares the living shit out of me with his icey cold stares) -- but this -- THIS really says volumes about the man and how proud he is of his son!!!
This picture makes Troy Crosby look like he knits slipper socks in his spare time and sings "Kumbiya" with the local school children who stop by to sell him some fundraiser candy bars (which he happily buys the whole box of!)!! And for one moment, it made me forget about all the iciness.
But after that moment, I find I'm still scared of him only because he has a look that makes him appear so unapproachable and I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets that impression and I'm sure I'm totally wrong and he's probably the nicest man on the face of this earth (and maybe he does knit slipper socks in his spare time!)!!

Get to Know New Pens HOTTIE, Jay McKee
You will definitely fit in well with the Pittsburgh Penguins - quite the attractive man, you are!
And yes, that is a wedding ring on his finger. He was married in July 1999. His wife, Nicole, was once a Buffalo Jill's cheerleader (is it me, or does she look like that girl who played on Melrose Place and another sitcom, the name of which escapes my mind right now!). They honeymooned in Hawaii then made a stop in Las Vegas on the way back to catch a David Copperfield show (Jay is really into magic!).
The couple have two daughters, Jayden and Savannah who were born in October 2004, and November 2006.
In addition to magic, another one of McKee's hobbies is tennis and formed a mixed doubles team with Nicole.
"At first, we were kind of fighting like husband and wife," Nicole McKee said, recalling their first time on the court last year. "He'd take my ball and make an error, and I was like, 'Why did you do that?' and vice versa. We had a lot of disagreements."HOW REFRESHING - just like every other married couple on the face of the planet!! They did eventually become a better team and won the US Tennis Association section in June 2005 which enabled them to advance to the North Atlantic Regional Championships at Princeton University in August of that year.
Her husband also remembers that.
"Needless to say, there wasn't much talking in the car on the way home," he said.
And McKee with glasses -- YUMMY!!!

Hockey 101 with HftL (Stanley Cup Edition)
A lot of the interesting facts we'll take a look at this summer for the "Stanley Cup Edition" of Hockey 101 with HftL will be the engraving itself -- from facts to the errors and corrections.
There is an official engraver of the Stanley Cup and there have been only four of them since it's creation. Currently, the official engraver is Louise St. Jacques who has maintained the name of the engraving business she took over, Boffey's Silversmiths of Montreal (the original owner, Doug Boffey, was the third official engraver). The first two engravers were two generations of the Peterson family (who were assisted by Fred Light, Sr.).
"I started working at Boffey Promotions part-time. I was getting trained while I was going to university," explains the delightful engraver [Louise St. Jacques], who laughs and continues, "I got so good, they had to hire me!"Every September, St. Jacques takes the Stanley Cup to her studio at Boffey Promotions to begin engraving the names of that year's Champions. It is disassembled from the top down and the "band being engraved is clamped onto a homemade circular jig that creates a steel background for stamping. Special hammers with different head-weights are used to strike against a letter-punch to sink each letter into the silver."

[Like Most Men] He's Still a Kid at Heart
When Sid was younger, he'd play street hockey with his buddies for a chance to win their own home-made version of the Stanley Cup. And after winning the real thing, he never forgot the dreams he had when he was young nor the buddies he shared those dreams with:
"I do have this idea of playing street hockey with my friends — winning team gets the Stanley Cup. We always used to pretend the Cup was on the line in our street hockey games, so now it really can be."
Sid could quite possibly make it another dream fulfilled!

Western Conference (now with the Eastern Conference) Hottie: Chris Conner (Pittsburgh Penguins formerly Dallas Stars)
IMPORTANT HOCKEY STUFF: As some of you know, or may not know, the [poor babies] Stars, were riddled with injuries to a number of key players. The least of which, (stop laughing, Stephanie) is their [fearless leader, and all around STUD!] "C" Brenden Morrow. (now I KNOW your laughing, Stephanie) Which caused a shortage of RWs. So they called up, Chris Conner, from the AHL last fall. He's pretty low key, but really gets and digs after the puck. He's fast, and you'll see him chasing the puck anywhere. (He's not unlike Tyler Kennedy. Same type of game.) 7 goals, and 14 assists in 71 NHL games for the Stars. He's only played in 1 playoff game. However I think pressure like the playoffs, is an undiscovered strength he has as a player [this is my personal opinion, take it for what you will]. His main disadvantage is his lack of size. He's "generously" listed at 5'8" and 180. (I'm pretty sure there was a brick involved in both the measuring and the weighing.) This brings me to a funny story I heard on the radio (no, Stephanie, it wasn't Morrow) from Steve Ott (who's ever the prankster) about how his team mates would keep putting a stool, in front of his locker, and telling him it was there so he could reach his gear. They even did this on the road. In college, he was on the WCHA all star team. Playing for the Michigan Tech Huskies. He ended his Huskies career as the school’s all-time leader in shorthanded goals (15) and ranked 19th among goal-scorers (69). [More on his career with the Huskies, Here] Never drafted, he began his pro career on an amateur try-out basis with Iowa in the AHL. After a strong showing which included a two-point effort in seven playoff games, he earned a two-year contract with Dallas. (Conner was signed as a free agent out of collage by the Stars, on 07/13/06.) He was an AHL rookie of the year, his first season out of collage for the IA Stars. While playing for the Stars, his line mates were, James Neal [previously on HftL], and Mike Modano [previously on HftL]. A line, that while together, did have some success even during that doomed season. He wore Max Talbot's # 25, in Dallas, so I'm not sure what we'll see him in for the Pens.

Videos of TK and Tangers on Pittsburgh Today Live!!
Here's video of today's interview of Kris Letang and Tyler Kennedy on Pittsburgh Today Live. There are two extra videos of both of them giving the weather forecast - FUN (you actually get to see a side of Tangers you don't usually see - he appears to be more outgoing than usual!)!!!!!!!
"Our fans are loud and they get excited which gets us excited!" - Tyler Kennedy
I don't know about you guys, but I NEVER GET TIRED of watching this stuff and the players talk about the win (and the parade, and the fans, and EVERYTHING!)!!!

Eastern Conference Eye Candy: Brooks Laich (Washington Capitals)
If this Brooks Laich's hockey career ended tomorrow, I'm certain he could make a pretty good living as a super model. Look at him - he has a great look with that chiseled face (strong jawline and cheekbones).
I took notice of him after watching one of the Cabbie's "Journey to the Cup" videos and was smitten ever since! CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THAT VIDEO (AND HERE)!!
HOCKEY FACTOR
- began his career in the WHL (Western Hockey League) for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Seattle Thunderbirds
- drafted in the 6th round of the 2001 NHL Entry-Level draft by Ottawa (193rd overall)
- WHL Western Conference MVP (2002-2003)
- won a silver medal with Team Canada in the 2003 World Junior Championships
- signed an extension with the Capitals in July 2008 (3-year / $6.1 million)
- has been mentioned as a future captain of the team
- his philosophy: "If you want money, go to the bank. If you want bread, go to the bakery. If you want goals, go to the net."
Committment in a guy is very attractive and Laich definitely has that especially when it comes to the Washington Capitals! When asked about his team attitude, he replied "If I asked you about your family, you would talk about them forever because it's something you love," Laich said. "That's the way I feel about this team. This team is my life, and I love playing here and I'm passionate about playing hockey. So it's easy for me to talk about it."
Not unlike his buddy Mike Green, Laich enjoys golf and playing the guitar. He's enjoys baseball and his favorite team is the Toronto Blue Jays
He's also a supporter of Athletes Against Autism.
