go out to Eric Staal and his wife, Tanya, (along with the entire Stephenson family) for the passing of her sister, Tamara.
It was announced on the Carolina Hurricanes webpage that Eric was granted a leave of absence due to her death to return to Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Tamara passed away last Tuesday after a long battle with cancer - she was only 26 (may she rest in peace).
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you ... may God grant you peace and comfort at this difficult time.

Not the best way to start out the new year, I hope it doesn't affect his Olympic dreams.
