REASON #57
He makes sure to "collect the puck"

(after teammates' milestones)

Seen here (above), Sidney gives 19 year old Alexandre Pechurskiy the game puck after playing in his first NHL game last Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.

This wasn't the first time Sid has taken it upon himself to do this (I've seen him do it a few times before) and I think it's quite considerate of him ... not to mention wildly adorable!!! I'm sure it's something his team mates (and Pechurskiy) appreciates as well!!

THANKS to Melany M. for posting a link to an article relating to this / Pechurskiy in the comments (I posted it here for "easy access")!!! Great article -

There was this really great article about that, and Pechurskiy in general.
I posted it on my facebook, but for those of you who aren't my friends on there... lol

How cool is that! I was very impressed with Pechurskiy's performance Saturday night.

Once again I'm going to say that he is an amazing Captain! So considerate :)

Ok that article is amazing and just shows how much of a stand up guy Sid is. I'm now even more impressed with Alex since he was just thrown in like that not expecting to play and didn't even have his own gear.

btw my ID was schensfn, but being the hockey nerd that I am it made me think of Luc Schenn of the Leafs LOL.

I love how supportive and appreciative Crosby and the rest of the Penguins were toward Pechurskiy. That whole article made me smile, but the note Crosby wrote on the stick blade made me go "awwwww". It's really wonderful to see how he's not just competitive about his own performance (though he is), but genuinely happy for his teammates when they do well, too.

that article was so cute...sid impresses me so much with everything he does on and off the ice. and pechurskiy deserves major kudos for being thrown into the fire and playing like he did. that's hard for any athlete at any level of competition, let alone a 19 year old at a professional level.

In all honesty, I was a total Crosby hater until I started reading your blog. Your Crosby posts have made me fall so hard for him.
