Underwood-Fisher Wedding Postponement is RUMOR

According to Uptown Sports Management, Inc. (the company who represents Mike Fisher), there is no truth to the rumors that have been running rampant over the internet.

 Reports of Carrie Underwood postponing wedding to #12 are simply incorrect. Fear not - the wedding is on as planned.

Underwood-Fisher Wedding Postponed

According to Aceshowbiz.com, sources have told OK! Magazine (although I couldn't confirm this on that site) that Carrie Underwood and her hunky hockey stud fiance, Mike Fisher, have been forced to move their wedding date to "the later half of summer" after a disagreement about a few of the final details.  It appears from what I've read that the wedding was set to take place sometime this month on a farm in Tennessee which I believe I reported previously.

Carrie had made it clear from what I've read (and from her appearance on Ellen) that she was hoping to have a small wedding with close family and friends; however, recent reports are that the guest list has grown to 250 which many sources have speculated is what began the disagreement:

... later triggered the debate on the menu at the now reasonably large ceremony. Fisher reportedly wants a five-course meal served to the pairs' guests, while Carrie would rather keep it low key with a Southern BBQ and grilled veggies.

These two are a typical couple whom have normal disagreements like the rest of us and, perhaps, some pre-wedding jitters ... hopefully they'll patch it up soon (and I'm sure they're planning to with talk about a later date!) - they're just TOO CUTE not to be together!! ; P

First off, I'd like to admit I'm addicted to tumblr ... (the first step to recovery is recognizing you have an addiction!)!!  I swear I could waste an ENTIRE DAY on that site (and yesterday, I DID!)!!  I also discovered that ...

tumblr + hockey = my new DRUG
so, needless to say, I'm in BIG trouble!!

Anyway, I mention tumblr because its where I found this awesome cartoon which is really not a picture, per se (I used one of Sid's FAV words there!!), but it's off-season and we can't expect much!! ; )

I still think it's appropriate for today's Sid pic (even if it is a little "old").  According to sparker202 (tumblr page I found this on), it was in the paper the night before the Pens won the Cup last year ... it depicts Sidney Crosby and Darrell Dexter (Nova Scotia Premier) who won the election to become the first NDP Premier of Nova Scotia AND is also from Cole Harbour.

HftL on tumblr!!

Social networking is becoming HUGE and I really can't keep up with it, but I did just jump on the tumblr bandwagon yesterday!!  I have to admit that after a while, I sorta got addicted to it just like everything else on the internet!! ; P

Anyway, be sure to check out our little tumblr "mini blog" ... how I'm envisioning it is to have all the daily "highlights" of HftL posted there but I think it's ALREADY taken on a life of its own!!!

And the Winner Is ...

I bet you thought I forgot about it, but I didn't ... I just had to find a good time to "fit" it in to our already busy post schedule! ; )

Well, its no surprise, the Chicago Blackhawks are the winners of HftL's First Annual "Hockey Cup of Hotness!"

As depicted above, there were a total of 750 votes (WOW!) and the Blackhawks received 77% of them (584 total!)!! What's surprising is that the SJS were LAST (and not Philly!)!! This was definitely an interesting poll and what I like to point out (which illustrates something I discovered a while ago) ... there seems to be a direct corrolation between HOT players and GOOD players (I'm guessing because we find good hockey players attractive) which also proves the fact that we ARE NOT anything close to "puck bunnies!"

So CONGRATULATIONS to the Hawks for not only winning the Stanley Cup, but also being crowned the most attractive players in the final four teams that in this year's playoffs by HftL readers!!

And THANKS to all of you for participating and making this such a great success (be sure to look for this again next year!)!!

Eastern Conference Eye Candy: Vladimir Sobotka (Boston Bruins)

This kid is pretty much an "up-and-comer," so there's not alot about him yet on the internet; I gathered what I could ... doesn't take much information to see he's definitely a hottie though (and has great potential - both on and off the ice!)!!

HOCKEY FACTOR:

Sobotka's hockey career began in the 2003-2004 season playing for Slavia Prague of the Czech Extraliga for four seasons in his home country (born in Třebíč, Czech Republic).

He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the 4th round (106th overall) making his professional debut with Boston's AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, on October 6, 2007 and scoring his first [pro] goal (and first [pro] point) on October 17, 2007.  After which he had spent his time between Providence and Boston until this past season.  His first NHL game was November 24, 2007 against the Islanders, earned his first NHL point recording an assist on December 12, 2007 against the Thrashers, and scored his first NHL goal on February 13, 2008 against the Pittsburgh Penguins (Ty Conklin).

As far as international play, he participated in the 2004 World U18 Championships scoring a goal in each of seven games to help them earn a bronze medal.  He was also on the Czech Republic team for both the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships.  In the 2007 tournament, he recorded 8 points in six games and was named the Czech Republic’s Second Star by a panel of coaches.

HOTNESS FACTOR:

Vladi is a "smaller" player at 5'10 (give or take an inch ... I've also seen him listed as 5'11 - LOL) and 183 pounds (but see, us shorter gals think anything above our size is tall ... I have ALOT to work with seeing as I'm 5'4 ... its all about perspective, ladies!)!! ; P  But size doesn't seem to matter to him as he can add a little "grit" to the Bruins (I won't add the video because its too painful to watch, but) - he had a really nice "mid-ice" hit on Staalsy during the 2008-2009 season ... although I hate to see that kind of stuff happen to "my" players, I can appreciate a good hit which this one was!!

At the young age of 22, Sobotka is playing with the "big boys" since keeping a permanent spot on Boston's NHL roster after being called up this past season in the middle of October although some would argue (specifically The Bruins Blog) that he wasn't as beneficial to the team as he could've been stating that "too often it looked like he left his game in Rhode Island."  This blog / these posts usually avoid analyzing players and points of the game, but I think it says alot for the kid to be playing at this level regardless of his inconsistencies and others' criticisms ... he's young, just getting his feet wet with his first real taste of the NHL during the 2009-10 season and has plenty of time to get his act together!

he reminds me of one of those guys in the "Backstreet Boys" in this one (Nick Carter ... yeah, that's it!)!!

Zbynek Michalek's Wedding

According to his agent, Allan Walsh, Zbynek Michalek of the Phoenix Coyotes got married yesterday in Jindrichuv Hradec, Czech.  Zbynek's brother, Milan Michalek (Ottawa Senators), his agent, along with fellow NHLers Marty Havlat (Minnesota Wild), Ondřej Pavelec (Atlanta Thrashers), Michael Frolik (Florida Panthers), and Rostislav Olesz (Florida Panthers) were all in attendance.

SIDENOTE: Zbynek's wife, Helena (pictured right), gave birth to their first child / son, Andreas, sometime last week.
